Dear Dr. Olivares,
I'm Pawel Artymowicz, Physicist and pilot, long involved in the analyses and computations related to the crash of PLF101 in Smolensk. I'm an independent expert. My experise includes 30+ years of compressible CFD developing SPH and new high-order Godunov-type gasdynamics codes (PPM), all sorts of theoretical dynamics, aerodynamics (I taught research courses on airfoil theory to Physics students planning to enroll in graduate studies at UTIAS (http://www.utias.utoronto.ca); I also build supercomputing clusters. I gave three talks at aeronautical engineering conferences and still am an active publicist.
Mostly in 2011-2014 I have obtained a number of results, including but not restricted to:
1. aerodynamic modeling of the damaged TU-154M (dynamics of he half-roll)
2. prediction of the center of mass trajectory, roll pitch and yaw after the collision with the 44 cm-diameter birch
3. correlation of the obtained trajectory and rotation angles with the high-res map of the post-accident terrain
4. correlation of the trajectory with the CVR audio recording and black box data
5. Analysis complementary to FEM simulations (done at WAT military academy Warsaw), describing the collision and detachment of the wing on a tree: calculation of the dynamic bending of the birch trunk up to a breakage point using Timoshenko beam model.

Last year, after the concept of left door being ejected by a shock wave from thermobaric explosion from the Tupolev flight PLF101 was created by the people I assume you know well, I've had a pleasure to testify at a meeting in the Polish Parliament of a special committee. I exposed that concept as a physical impossibility, which is part of the reason I believe we should talk. I would very much like to discuss any issues you would like like me to discuss with you, related to the crash. Phone or skype would work best, please indicate the time if you are interested.

Pan Olivares szybko wyraził zainteresowanie moją uprzejmą propozycją. nic dziwnego - w jego instytucie nie prowadzi się badań aerodynamicznych i chciał przedyskutować lot tupolewa, który zakończył się rozpadem, który z kolei on ma modelować.

Pan Olivares powiedział że jest na wyjeździe (jak się okazało w Polsce) i przedstawił propozycję kiedy porozmawiamy (jak tylko wróci do domu). po zobaczeniu jego występu w programie TV Republika napisałem mu co następuje (m.in. komentując jego niefortunny zwrot o tupolewie zbudowanym jak czołg)

Ok, thanks. I saw you on Polish TV, well I definitely know you weren't measuring a tank :-) [What Dr. Binienda was modeling was indeed a tank though, so I think I understand where that 'tank' came from.]
I'd suggest to make sure to get those measurements of shear plates of spars and perpendicular profiles near the breakage point on wings right. Very precise numbers are known for all things, incl. stiffeners. It'll be interesting to compare...
I'll translate my stuff next week.

To wszystko. Nie tylko nie ma w moich mailach najmniejszej groźby, powiedziałbym że zupełnie przeciwnie, rozmawiało nam się bardzo sympatycznie, tak jak rozmawiają prawdziwi naukowcy. Po skandalicznych pomówieniach i oskarżeniach Wiesława B z Akron, wysłałem do Gerardo Olivaresa jeszcze jeden list wyjaśniający, z konieczności, ten skandal i kim jest w mojej opinii, jego znajomy WB z podkomisji smoleńskiej.
